UK fracking net widens

Many areas of Britain are to be opened up for shale gas drilling, it has been reported, with the government offering local communities up to £100,000 for each well that is subjected to fracking, which will be given even if gas is not produced.

The Telegraph reports that energy minister Michael Fallon will announce that the government will be “widening the search for shale”, and will warn communities “right across the south” to prepare for fracking to take place near their homes.
